Overview

Research in Engineering & Technology plays a very vital role in meeting nation’s goals. As such Indian research needs to remain at world frontiers if it is to boost economic productivity and competitiveness, strengthen national security, improve human health, and achieve other national objectives in the next century. The research cell aims to nurture research culture in the institute by promoting research in newly emerging & challenging frontier areas and developing a scientific & technological temper. The cell takes upon the responsibility of creating a work place to attract the best talent and strives continuously in pooling of skills and internal resources, creating strategy, overcoming boundaries, and makes the institute honoured to be amongst the best institutions around the globe. The publication statistics, citations and obtaining patents are priorities of the cell. It undertakes various initiatives such us promoting faculty members for writing proposals to funding agencies for projects, conducting skill development programme for students based on innovation and building inter-disciplinary research activities. The cell enhances the general research capability of budding technocrats by way of participating in conferences, seminars, workshops, project competition, etc.

Objectives

• To provide a conducive environment for research and allocate available infrastructural facilities.
• To encourage and extend facility support to faculty and researchers from different disciplines that may lead into innovative product developments.
• To have better coordination among other cells/centers dealing with Industry Inter Linkage, Incubation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
• To develop an Institutional Research Information System for sharing the status research projects, expertise & resources availability, etc., database of in-house experts to provide industrial consultancy and services.
• To act as a liaison between researchers & relevant research funding agencies, extend guidance in preparation & submission of research project proposals and post-sanctioning of the grants to oversee adherence to timelines.
• To insist on social responsibilities while pursuing research.
• To promote research culture through teaching-learning process.
• To collect and circulate information of potential funding agencies for financial assistance.
• To assist for applying research proposals to various funding agencies of state/central government like GUJCOST, DST, AICTE, UGC, etc.
• To organize workshops and awareness programs to inculcate research culture among faculty and prospective researchers.
• To assist for applying and getting funds for conducting seminar, workshop and faculty development programmes from various available funding agencies.
• To create environment among the staff members to take up research projects and improve their knowledge, skills and qualifications by registering in Ph.D. programs.
• To document the research activities, and research highlights through publications in Conferences/Journals.
